Windows 11: Use Virtual Desktops to Organize Workspaces

🖥️ Multiple Desktops, One PC

20 windows open? Can’t find anything? Virtual Desktops let you organize: Desktop 1 = Work, Desktop 2 = Personal, Desktop 3 = Development. Switch with keyboard shortcut.

Quick Start

# Open Task View
Win + Tab

# Create new desktop
Click "+ New Desktop" or Ctrl + Win + D

# Switch between desktops
Ctrl + Win + Left/Right Arrow

# Close desktop
Hover over desktop in Task View → X button

  • Rename desktops: Task View → right-click desktop → Rename
  • Reorder desktops: Drag in Task View
  • Move app to all desktops: Task View → right-click window → “Show on all desktops”
  • Persist after restart: Windows remembers your desktops
  • Combine with Snap Layouts: Win + Z on each desktop
