Photoshop: Use Content-Aware Scale to Resize Images Without Distortion

- 24.06.26 - ErcanOPAK

📐 Resize Images, Keep Important Content Intact

Normal scaling stretches everything. Content-Aware Scale protects important areas. Resize while preserving people, objects, faces.

📝 How to Use

1. Select layer
2. Edit → Content-Aware Scale (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + C)
3. Drag handles to resize
4. Protected areas stay intact

Protect specific areas:
- Make selection of area to protect
- Select → Save Selection (name it)
- In Content-Aware Scale options:
  - Protection: Choose your saved selection
  - Amount: Protection strength (0-10)

Skin tone protection:
- Check "Protect Skin Tones"
- Keeps people from distorting

🎯 Use Cases

- Resize wide images to different aspect ratios
- Remove unwanted space from edges
- Make portrait photos fit different frames
- Resize landscapes without stretching subjects

Pro tips:
- Duplicate layer first (non-destructive)
- Use multiple passes for complex images
- Combine with Content-Aware Fill for best results

💡 Pro Tips

  • Protect faces and people (enable skin tone protection)
  • Use selection to protect specific objects
  • Do small increments (not one big resize)
  • Combine with Content-Aware Fill for edges

“Normal scaling stretched people horizontally. Content-Aware Scale protected faces. Perfect result. Essential for photo retouching.”
