Windows 11: Use Storage Sense to Automatically Free Up Disk Space

- 06.06.26 - ErcanOPAK

🗑️ Never Run Disk Cleanup Again

Temporary files, recycle bin, downloads folder — fill your disk. Storage Sense cleans automatically. Set it and forget it.

🔧 Enable Storage Sense

Settings → System → Storage → Storage Sense → On

Configure:
- Run Storage Sense: Every day / Week / Month / Low disk space
- Delete files in recycle bin: Never / 1 day / 14 days / 30 days / 60 days
- Delete files in Downloads: Never / 1 day / 14 days / 30 days / 60 days
- Delete previous Windows versions: Always (if low on space)

Manual cleanup: Settings → System → Storage → Temporary files

✅ What It Cleans

  • Recycle Bin files older than X days
  • Downloads folder files older than X days (if enabled)
  • Temporary files (Windows temp, browser cache)
  • Previous Windows installations (Windows.old)
  • Delivery Optimization files

“Low disk space warning every week. Turned on Storage Sense. Now it cleans automatically. Never see warnings again. Set and forget is the best feature.”
