Windows 11: Use Memory Diagnostic Tool to Find Faulty RAM

- 31.05.26 - ErcanOPAK

๐Ÿงช Random Crashes? Test Your RAM

PC freezing? Blue screens? Windows Memory Diagnostic tests RAM for errors. Find faulty memory before buying new parts.

๐Ÿ”ง How to Run

Method 1: Start โ†’ Windows Memory Diagnostic

Method 2: Win + R โ†’ mdsched.exe

Method 3: Control Panel โ†’ Administrative Tools โ†’ Windows Memory Diagnostic

Choose:
- Restart now and check (recommended)
- Check next time I start

After restart: Test runs automatically (takes 10-30 minutes)
Results: See in Event Viewer after login

๐Ÿ“Š View Results

1. Event Viewer (Win + R โ†’ eventvwr.msc)
2. Windows Logs โ†’ System
3. Filter by Source: MemoryDiagnostics
4. Look for:
   - "The Windows Memory Diagnostic tested the computer's memory and found no errors" (Good)
   - "found errors" (Bad RAM)

Alternatively: Reliability Monitor (Start โ†’ Reliability)
Shows memory error history

โœ… If Errors Found

  • Test each RAM stick separately
  • Reseat RAM (remove and reinsert)
  • Clean RAM contacts with eraser
  • Try different RAM slots
  • Replace faulty RAM (under warranty?)

“PC crashed daily. Almost bought new motherboard. Ran Memory Diagnostic: faulty RAM. Replaced one stick. Problem gone. Saved $500.”
